According to Rivals, we're sticking a coaches' kid in the dyke for a second year in a row: Mark Whipple's son Spencer, a 20-year-old junior backup at UMass, has transferred to Miami to run the scout team. Spencer first joined Miami during the Georgia Tech game week, and is "a good kid who is helping us out, is doing a great job on scout team," Randy Shannon said. "The biggest thing for him is he wanted to be close to his dad, his family."

Like Lt. Winslow told me, whatever it takes to keep Whipple, we should do. Asian girls, drugs, populating the entire scout team with his second cousins or infirm elderly aunts....all for it.
