LaRon Byrd with the "no shit" quote of the week

"I just think we kind of started off slow," Byrd said. "We underestimated them really. By them losing two conference games we went in expecting a blowout. Those guys came to play, and we didn't."

So why does it seem this team always plays its best only when its back is up against the wall?

"I don't know," Byrd said. "It's all on us, on the players. The media always say it's coaches, but the coaches have nothing to do with it. We have to make the plays when needed, have to execute. We have to play football the way we know how."

Byrd's Comment

It’s nice that Byrd chooses to take the heat and try to deflect the heat away from the coaching staff. It makes me wonder if he and the rest of the players are that short sighted or they just get deceived into drinking the Kool-Aid. They look up to and love their coach(es) and just want things to stay the same. No big deal, I hate change too but this a little different. Sometimes the players aren’t the best judges of their coaching staffs abilities. If the Canes continue to play this way and lose I hope there is some silver lining to it all and Shalala won’t stand in the way of making a change even though RS has the team graduating and behaving itself. Yeah they behave all right but no one is gonna support a team that plays so poorly and continually loses.

I agree. The players are too close to make a judgment call on the coaching staff. This team has come out unprepared to play every season at times for way too long. Bama came out flat against SC and best believe Saban will not let that happen a second time
