Five-Star DB Latwan Anderson Commits to Track Team.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, the #2 DB in the nation has confirmed that no one wants to move to West Virginia (or play for Bill Stewart).
"I felt that all things were equal between West Virginia and Miami," Anderson told SI.com about the two schools. "The only difference was the football. In my opinion, Miami is far and away closer to winning conference and national championships than West Virginia."
Along with having family in Florida, Anderson said one other major factor figured into his decision.
"Even if I don't make the NFL, I could see myself living in Miami after I get my degree," Anderson said. "I don't know if I can say the same if I went to West Virginia. I don't know if I can see myself living there after school."
How badly, exactly, do people not want to live in West Virginia? There was no room in the inn, so Anderson's commitment was given to the Hurricanes' track coach.
The DB never spoke with UM football coaches during the recruiting process - he wasn't even on Miami's radar until after signing day. That's when Cane coaches called his school to inquire why he never signed with West Virginia.
After that they turned his recruitment over to track coordinator Amy Deem; Anderson said the Canes had no football scholarship to offer him.
Anderson...has personal best times of 11.26 seconds in the 100, 21.54 seconds in the 200 and 50.03 seconds in the 400. The track scholarship will convert over to football as soon as he plays in a game for the Canes."It was a little strange not talking to them, but I understand the situation," Anderson said. "I picked Miami because me, my dad and mom, we compared everything from Miami to West Virginia. And everything stacked up. Miami's academics were step and step, and when it came to football Miami was on another level."
Anderson had a press conference scheduled for today, but has canceled. "I'll sign my papers as soon as they get here tonight or tomorrow," Anderson said. "It's a done deal."
Seantrel Henderson, this is how you do it.

Wow
he’s even faster on film..
i like this kid, u have to be a diva to play that position to be a stud
your all by yoursefl on an island most of the game…i see future star!!
this is a weird situation
from what i can glean, the kid wanted to go to USC but his mom wouldn’t let him because it’s too far from ohio. i hope he’s okay with waiting a few years to play at a school that he choose pretty much out of the blue, cuz we’re pretty set at safety which is probably where he’ll end up. we’ll see… it’s cool anyway, and you can always work with that speed.

honestly, when word came this morning
my first thought was, did we even really offer? his recruitment has been BIZARRE. And Monday his dad said they didn’t get an offer while they were there. But apparently the papers are on their way. I mean, I know you don’t turn down the no. 2 safety in a class, but there were rumors of character issues and I thought we might have some crazy situation in which a kid was recruiting himself out of nowhere. But it seems legit.
Safety…we have Telemaque and Ray Ray, but beyond that it’s fair game, right? I’m guessing he’ll have to “redshirt” next year anyway unless G. Harvin isn’t back….RS said today if a player [meaning Seantrel] wants to come, there’s nothing he can do, we’re full.

He left
his first HS because he allegedly shoved a coach or a teacher, then went to play for Ted Ginn Sr. We didn’t actually recruit him (the football coaches) because then he couldn’t have been on a track scholarship to begin with. The SI article goes into it a bit, but it doesn’t convert into a football scholarship until he plays in a game, not a practice, so it doesn’t count against this spring’s recruiting class.
We’re probably holding one back for Seantrelle Henderson.
Yeah, I get how the track thing works.
I just wondered if he was even really getting a track scholly, because he didn’t get one over the weekend, at which point he was already basically announcing for UM. I guess I just had visions of Todd Chandler dancing in my head and with no word from the school, like you’d get on NSD, it seemed awkward.

the whole thing is awkward
like i’m totally prepared for this to be a disaster where the kid leaves after one year or something. i hope that doesn’t happen but it just seems like he picked us because we would take him and weren’t in fucking west virginia.
i guess we’ll see in the summer or w/e.
