A look at next year's roster after graduation and early exits

Some decent pass rushers on the D Line. Desperate for DTs.
LBs will be a weak spot. Cain, Gaines, Perryman w/o Spence's direction. Yikes! Would be good if Ramon Buchanon can get a redshirt.
DB is weak. Need freshman Finnie and Crawford to learn fast. Might need AJ Highsmith to play next year.
QB -- we know Morris is not a sure thing. Hopefully Williams is an improvement. We should try to bring in 2 top freshmen this class.
RB -- Lamar is gone to NFL. Mike James and Eduardo Clements are not elite but they can pick up yards behind a dominant OL. Still, an opportunity for an elite freshman to get PT.
OL is the strength of the team next year. Seantrel, B Wash (unless he leaves early), Linder, Feliciano. All these guys are large and experienced.
Tight End. Very thin. But Walford could continue to develop and produce a lot.
WR, I would also call a strength. Streeter, Hurns, Dorsett. Only guy leaving that has contributed this year is Benjamin. Byrdman is nowhere to be found.

interesting stuff
i’d be surprised if forston went to the nfl. he was having a pretty terrible year before his knee injury, so i doubt he would even go in the first three rounds.
it’ll be interesting to see if vernon and ray ray stay or go. both are NFL talents, but suspensions have pretty much robbed them of their seasons, so they could just say “fuck it” and try to get drafted on potential and athleticism alone, or they could come back and try and prove themselves.
honestly, i’d be surprised if lamar left after this season. i bet he stays thru his junior year to get his degree.
the interesting thing about the DTs is not that there isn’t any talent there. if porter and robinson and forston can stay healthy for next season, that’s a pretty decent starting point when you fold in darius smith and pierre and grimble and corey king. they’re gonna need to get some bodies in there, but it could turn out okay.
more than anything we need DBs. they’re trying to bring in a bunch of guys, so hopefully they can find some combo that works. mcgee will have to be good, and finnie and crawford and whoever else they bring in next year are gonna have to learn quickly.

That would be fantastic if Lamar comes back! I hope you are right. But of any position, If I was a RB I would go as early as possible on account of durability issues.
I can never tell about the jumps to the league. I could understand a guy leaving for 3rd or 4th round money.

If Lamar keeps up his current pace, he’s a legitimate first round. I don’t think he can possibly pass that up. If his degree is that important to him, he’ll come back and take summer classes.
I hope you’re right, but I’m certainly not about to get my hopes up.

Nice bump
Was wondering if this one would make it. Lots of research here.
My barometer on the DB depth chart is this: if Swasey or Highsmith are playing, let alone starting, we’re in trouble.
Can't post a fanshort for w\reason but....
Golden thinks some players are too concerned with highlight reels:
Coach Al Golden indicated Monday that many of his players have exaggerated ideas about their talent level.
"That’s one of the biggest things coaching at Miami," Golden said. "We have a lot of guys that look for external affirmation. They’re looking for, ‘Hey, am I on the highlight reel?’ or ‘Am I on the blogs?’ or ‘Hey, am I a preseason this or that?’ And we’ve got to get away from that. We’ve got to get to being a team that executes every day and is process driven and let the outcome take care of itself."
It appears that some Hurricanes might not always "be on the same page on offense, defense and special teams," Golden said, "and part of that, to be quite honest, is humbling for the kids because many of them think they’re way better than they are and they just have to understand that they have to execute their role."

I loved that article
Hopefully it will light a fire under some guys to show up and perform Saturday in Chapel Hill.
