The U and Al Golden's Contract
According to CBS's Dennis Dodd:
The agent for Miami coach Al Golden told CBSSports.com Tuesday there have been “overtures made” by the school about adjusting his client’s contract in the wake of the current NCAA scandal.
Golden had expressed frustration about not being told about the full scope of the scandal involving former booster Nevin Shapiro. Brett Senior, Golden’s long-time representative, said at least one Miami official has reached out to Golden specifically about the contract.
Golden is in the first year of a reported five-year deal worth $10 million.
“I’ve got the feeling they’ll [Miami] do the right thing,” said Senior who has represented Golden since he came out of Penn State in 1991.
Asked about an escape clause in the current deal that would allow Golden to leave Miami based on the severity of NCAA sanctions, Senior added: “I will say this. We’ve got options available to us.”

And here is the backtrack
With four weeks left in the season, and the NCAA investigation into UM’s relationship with former booster Nevin Shapiro expected to linger for several months, the fear by Hurricanes fans that football coach Al Golden will depart prematurely grows daily.
Golden did not want to talk about his contract or a report Tuesday quoting his agent saying there had been "overtures made" by UM about redrawing his five-year deal. But that agent, Brett Senior, told The Miami Herald that Golden will honor his contract and is determined to bring a national championship back to Miami.
"Al is not going anywhere, OK?" said Senior, a close friend of Golden’s who has been his agent since Golden’s last season at Penn State in 1991. "He is so committed. All he talks to me about is how great the players are and how much he loves them. He loves his home here. His family loves it here.

I’m with The Beast from All Canes on this one. I have to call b.s. This whole bit was intentional. Golden is a wise man.

Yeah I thought the same thing. Definitely a bargaining tool. Let’s see if he is wise enough to re-evaulate some of the coaches – not too wild on D’Onofrio at the moment – what do you think? Although on one hand this defense could be such a hot mess that he D’Ono is second guessing himself which usually doesn’t end well in competitive sports
Yeah. I totally agree.
I have been down on Coach D this season, and I think for good reason. Granted, we are missing a lot of talent at key positions (injuries, departures, etc.), but I think most of the schemes he uses have set our D up for failure.
Fisch has done a pretty good job save and except key short yardage situations (see KState, UVa, etc.).

and
now there is more film of our offense – notice that we are not scoring like we did the first few games
Such a valid point.
Tell me everything is going to be ok tomorrow. I am sincerely worried about Duke…. seriously, DUKE!!!

We have had to come from behind with Duke the last couple of times, right? or am I wrong? I was at that game when Willie Cooper made that pick at the end of the 4th. They were on the move and I thought we would lose that game. heir QB is decent, he is just on a bad team.
It’s gonna be ok. head desk, head desk.
If anyone had told me at the beginning of the season that we would have a QB with a high TD and low int ratio, a running back with 5 games over 100 yards, a wide receiver who can make circus catches and improved special teams and would be 4-4 I wouldn’t have believed it
Well, that turned out better than expected

You are soooo right about that. Outside of the CB’s I geniunely thought we would have a pretty solid defense going into the season. I’m looking forward to the clash in Tally.

Do what it takes to keep AL
Miami should make it very appetizing for Golden to stay. He is making a great show for the schools perceived on and off the field. Even if his record doesn’t exactly show it, yet. Give him time. Miami needs to work it out quick. I think this whole thing surfaced because of talk of Joe Paterno possibly retiring at the end of this season at Penn State.
