NFL Draft Day Two Open Thread
Though it seemed like Brandon Harris might sneak into the bottom of the first round, the Canes were shutout of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft last night, an occurrence that is becoming increasingly familiar. That said, Miami should see no less than two of its players come off the board in the second round, with the potential for four. After the jump, a rundown of where some Day Two mock drafts have Canes players landing.
Mel Kiper:
Brandon Harris to the Dallas Cowboys (40 overall)
Leonard Hankerson to the St. Louis Rams (47 overall)
Orlando Franklin to the Kansas City Chiefs (55 overall)
Todd McShay:
Brandon Harris to the San Francisco Giants (45 overall)
Orlando Franklin to the Philadelphia Eagles (54 overall)
SB Nation's Brian Galliford:
Brandon Harris to the Detroit Lions (44 overall)
Allen Bailey to the New England Patriots (56 overall)
Leonard Hankerson to the Chicago Bears (62 overall)

I may be extremely biased...
but I think Leonard Hankerson is a great steal in Round 2. He will make an excellent possession receiver with his size, strength, and route running. He has also displayed some serious play-making ability during his tenure at the U.

Franklin just went to Denver in the 2nd round.
I don’t think he’s that good to be fair, but of course I hope he continues the great tradition the U has in the NFL.

Denver fan here
from reading Franklin’s comments yesterday he said the Broncos envision him as a tackle, and being that Tebow is left handed and we already have Clady, do you think he’ll be very good at protecting his blind side? He had an impressive junior year did he not?
He won’t be a standout imo, but he’ll be steady for a few years and you’ll get decent production out of him. Thought the rumor was Tebow might be traded as Elway not a big fan, no?

orlando is good. i think he’d prob be exploited a bit as a tackle in the NFL but as a guard i think he could be a long time starter. his versatility is an asset in terms of depth but he’s not a guy i think can play tackle long term in the NFL.

We all know
DvD is going to be the steal of this year’s rookie class. It’s inevitable, Sam Shields part 2
And as I'm keeping track:
Harris went 60th overall to the Texans.
Hankerson went 79th overall to the Redskins.
Van Dyke went 81st overall to the Raiders.

Bailey to KC
…86th pick.

During training camp they’ll see what he does kicking on special teams and move him to LB

i think berry will make an nfl team as a special teams/fourth RB guy. cooper got fucked by his knee injury.
DVD pick seems very obvious in retrospect, richard gordon getting drafted is just beyond absurd
