Open Thread - Miami Hurricanes at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Miami Hurricanes at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Jan 24, 2012 9:00 PM EST

Pretty tough loss Sunday, 78-73 to the Wolfpack. Miami put themselves in a 12-point halftime hole, and never recovered. As such, sitting at 10-7 and 1-3 in the ACC, it might be time to alter expectations for this squad, if you haven't already. Jim Larranaga said as much with his frustrated post-game comments, dropping bombs like "I was anticipating what our squad would be like before my staff and I arrived and I've found that we have a lot more work to do than we originally thought" and a first half that was "really disappointing and very discouraging." Bah.

If there is any hope to salvage a respectable season, it needs to start with winning games vs fellow basement-dwelling teams, ala the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tonight at 9 pm ET. Tech sits at 8-11 (1-4 ACC).

Go Canes.....

Reggie Johnson misses wide open dunk

Couldn’t fit a couch cushion under his feet with the jump he had. Non-factor tonight on 1-8 shooting.

Laboring would be a fair description

Commentator also noted that he doesnt look like he’s back in basketball shape, and I agree completely.

there’s a lot of talent lurking on this team, but right now they’re like if you took a puzzle box and dumped it on the floor and left it there.

Larranaga's comments after game on Sunday were the sound of a despondent man

Lot more work to do than he thought? Heh.

i was thinking the other day how i just remember seeing frank look so incredibly frustrated towards the end of last season. like, he knew there was talent on the team but couldn’t figure out how to wring it out.

feel like larranaga is feeling the same way… it’s just an imperfect team right now.

Canes have done well defensively today, almost exclusively man.

Good perimeter defense and have generally challenged almost every shot.
