Brown, Bush to Announce College Decisions at US Army All-American Bowl

Yep, coach, I'd be pretty stoked about just one of those two guys, too.

The Canes' recruiting class could get a big boost this weekend, as two prominent recruits considering Miami will announce their commitments during the US Army All-American Bowl. Former Cane commitment Keith Brown from Miami Norland has apparently de-committed from Illinois and will reportedly decide between Miami, Louisville, and Illinois. Given this kid's waffling, it's tough to say where he will end up. Illinois is breaking in a new coach, former Toledo coach Tim Beckman, so one might think that would give Louisville and Miami some form of an advantage. It's no secret that Charlie Strong is a hell of a recruiter and already plucked Teddy Bridgewater and Eli Rogers from Miami-Northwestern last year, who Brown played against. The opportunity for early playing time, and an early track record by Strong of playing young players, might be persuasive. However, Brown practiced this week in preparation for the game with Miami LB commit Raphael Kirby from Stone Mountain, GA and was teammates with Cane commits Duke Johnson and Ereck Flowers.....so if you want to be a cock-eyed optimist, there's your reason, I guess.

Meanwhile, safety Deon Bush from Christopher Columbus High will also apparently announce Saturday between Auburn, Alabama, and Miami. Bush, like Brown, is a four-star rated prospect by rivals.com and ranked near the top of his positional group. The Canes really don't seem to have a potential instant impact defensive back prospect right now, so nabbing a guy like Bush would certainly fit the bill. Would also be nice to see Golden start keeping some top-notch South Florida propects at home more often than his predecessors managed.

So, sit back, getcha popcorn, and hopefully watch one or both of these dudes put on the orange and green hat on Saturday.

We also may end up with a big DE commitment in Tyriq McCord

He’s a 4 star kid ranked as the 7th best DE prospect in the nation. According to Rivals, his mom has been linked to and has favored South Carolina for quite a while now, but it appears he would rather stay close to home, which means Miami. All signs seem to be pointing towards the Canes with this one, so we shall see. He would be a huge get to add depth to the D line.
